Geography Seoul National University

Overview

Geography from Seoul National University is a science of studying such human living space, that is, the phenomenon of the surface of the Earth. 

From the standpoints of space and ecology, taking their temporal dimensions, Geography seeks to rationally explain a variety of surface phenomena while at the same time attempting to investigate the living space of the future.

Thus, it may be said that the socio— economic phenomena such cities and rural communities, population, industnal location and resource distribution, etc„ and the natural phenomena such as topography, climate, etc., are all elements forming the Wing space, and therefore, the research subject of Geography.

Career 

Since the inception of the Department of Geography in Seoul National University in 1958, a majority of the early graduates advanced into the academic and educational world, making pioneering efforts to establish Geography as a science,

Many of today' s graduates are entering graduate schools to acquire additional expertise, and others are working in research and public institutions as experts in planning, which is in the spotlight as an applied field of Geography. Others are entering the planning and administrative fields of the individual ministries of the government, and in step with the globalization in journalism, finance, and business, our graduates' reach as planning experts in regional and overseas environments continue to extend globally.

With the growing importance of informationization, globalization, localization, and sustainability, demand for geographical expertise in offering effective alternative solutions to regional management is expected to dramatically increase.
