Key facts
The Department seeks to provide the students with best tools in terms of ancient, classical and modern languages, to be able to study history of philosophy and related areas as well as Continental Philosophy and the middle ground between Continental and Analytic Philosophy which tends to dominate current discussions in contemporary philosophy.
The Graduate Program offered at Yeditepe University is open to all students who have a BA degree either in Philosophy or in another discipline and who qualify in the written and oral examinations given by the Department of Philosophy. The Remedial Program, which lasts a year, and which is not included in the official deadline for completing the Graduate Program, is compulsory for all students who have a BA degree in another discipline than Philosophy.
To be able to get the M.A. degree in Philosophy, the students must take courses which add up at least to 21 credits (the courses taken in the Remedial year are not included) and must write a thesis dissertation which satisfies the requirements given in the regulations of Yeditepe University; and finally, must be successful in defending their dissertations.

- Note: Master degree applicants are not required to obtain a TOEFL before they apply,instead they can take our Proficiency exam. If students dont acquire 55 out of 100 in the Proficiency Exam, they will be automatically placed in our Preparatory School.
