About

It aims to give you an advanced understanding of theoretical and applied knowledge in the intersecting fields of politics and communication research. It provides you with the flexibility to pursue particular topics of interest in the fields of media, politics and communication, culminating in an independent research project in politics and communications. The Politics and Communication programme from London School of Economics and Political Science is ideal preparation for research work and employment in media, politics, communication and related fields.

You will study compulsory courses in Political Communication, Theories and Concepts in Media and Communications, Methods of Research in Media and Communications and Democracy and the Media, and optional courses to the value of one unit. You will also have the opportunity to take courses taught in the Department of Government, in addition to those within your Department.

We attract students from a diverse range of backgrounds, often including those with professional experience of working in media and communications-related fields, offering the opportunity to network and exchange ideas.

On graduating, our students enter a variety of careers in the UK and abroad, including broadcasting, journalism, advertising, new media industries, political marketing, market research, regulation and policy, media management and research in both the public and private sectors.

                                PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

                              Academic Requirements

                              You need the following GPA score:

                              Required score: Upper Second Class

                              Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

                              Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
