Overview
MEME - Mobility European Master in Evolution students at University of Groningen start their study by attending the annual MEME summer school. During the first year, students follow a set of multidisciplinary courses that are developed to provide an overview of the fundamental principles underlying modern evolutionary biology.
Key Features
- Much emphasis will be given to developing the scientific, methodological and academic skills required for conducting research. The second year mainly consists of individually supervised research training where students work on their own research questions in two major research projects.
- During these projects, students are fully embedded in leading research groups where they and can make use of state-of-the art research methods and facilities.

General requirements
- candidates must have obtained a degree in Biology or a closely related field (or provide convincing proof that such a degree will be obtained before the start of the next academic year); this degree must be equivalent to or higher than a European Bachelor of Science (BSc) and meet the local requirements of all partners;
- candidates must have sufficient background in evolutionary biology or neighbouring disciplines (e.g. ecology or systematics);
- candidates must have belonged to the top students of their cohort during their BSc;
- candidates must have a strong motivation to pursue a scientific career;
- candidates must provide proof of sufficient proficiency in English.
