The Health Professions Education programme is offered by Maastricht University. 

About

The Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) gives participants the knowledge and skills required for a career in health professions education and research. Students will receive a Master of Science degree in Health Professions Education.

The MHPE is a two-year, half-time programme taught in English. It is largely based on distance learning, with a maximum of three short periods in Maastricht.

    The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level.     The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

Academic Requirements

Admission requirements:

  • A Master of Science (MSc) degree in a medical or health profession (see relevant domains in table below) from a university
  • A Bachelor degree in a medical or health profession from a programme that is at least a three-year equivalent of nominal study time for degrees of regular universities, or a four-year equivalent of nominal study time for degrees of universities of applied science.
For applicants with only a Bachelor degree, the following additional requirements apply:
  • Applicants have at least three years of teaching experience.
  • Applicants must obtain passing scores for the entrance exam in basic statistics.
  • Access to a medical or other health-related curriculum.
