Overview
About the program
These goals are focused and pursued through individual contact with an advisor of the student’s choice and the advice of any of the studio faculty as well as non-art faculty of the university. In addition, all graduate Sculpture students at University of Notre Dame, faculty, and technicians meet weekly for group critiques which challenge and encourage the individual to pursue a studied, personal expression of their ideas. This pursuit is further enhanced through frequent lectures and critiques by visiting artists, historians, and critics.
Facilities
The facilities include large general studios, studios for all graduate students and well-equipped studios for metal casting and wood sculpture. The tools in the metal shop include a mig, a tig, a forge, acetylene welders, a plasma cutter, band saws, a sand blaster, a gantry, and a fork lift. The wood shop contains table saws, a panel saw, a band saw, a miter saw, a joiner/planer, a drill press, sanders, and a lathe.
