Description
The Norman Cohen Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 by the estate of Norman Cohen after he and his surviving wife passed away, in 2006 and 2021 respectively.
This gift will honor Norman's career and lifelong contributions, most notably his service to the Department of Defense, as well as his educational pursuits through CMU's Global Campus by supporting students who follow in his footsteps.
Norman graduated from CMU's Global Campus at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio in 1977 with a Master of Science in Administration and a concentration in Logistics Management.
Norman had served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1945-46. After his discharge, he returned to Japan and served as a Civil Service employee of the U.S. Government.
In 1970 the office in Tokyo was closed and the employees were transferred to Wright-Patterson AFB, where he served in logistics and production control. At the time of his retirement, he was Director of Contract Maintenance worldwide, having served a total of 51 years with the government.

Eligibility
- Admitted as CMU Innovation and Online student
- Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0
- Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours
- First preference is given to student(s) pursuing a Master of Science in Administration (MSA) degree with a concentration in Leadership or Logistics and Acquisition (or their equivalent), who are actively employed by the Department of Defense, and/or have been Honorably Discharged Veterans of the U.S. Military Services, and/or are currently serving in the Military active-duty guard or active reserve
- Second preference is given to student(s) pursuing a Master of Science in Administration (MSA) degree who are actively employed by the Department of Defense, and/or have been Honorably Discharged Veterans of the U.S. Military Services, and/or are currently serving in the Military active-duty guard or active reserve
- Third preference is given to student(s) pursuing a Master of Science in Administration (MSA) degree with a concentration in Leadership or Logistics and Acquisition (or their equivalent)
- Fourth preference is given to student(s) pursuing a Master of Science in Administration (MSA) degree
