Description

The Gladys Kares Scholarship in Dance was established by Dance Professor Gladys Kares to recognize and honor students in the Department of Theatre and Dance who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the area of dance choreography.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Dance major student.
  • Undergraduate student.
  • Full-time enrollment.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • Must demonstrate evidence of creative achievement, particularly in dance choreography.
  • Demonstrate financial need by filing the 2025–26 FAFSA or the CA Dream Act Application (CADAA).

Criteria - Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • Outstanding potential in dance choreography/creative achievement.
  • Academic achievement (GPA).
  • Financial Need.

In the Scholarship-Specific Requirements section:

Your essay should specifically articulate your outstanding potential in the area of dance choreography by detailing:

Your creative process and vision as a choreographer.

How these creative experiences have contributed to your development as an artist and future professional.
