Description

These scholarships are available for gifted students in the Choral Arts.

Scholarships and merit-based awards are gift aid awarded to undergraduate students solely on a merit basis.

When awarding merit aid, they take a holistic approach, looking beyond the numbers related to academic talent alone and reviewing what a student contributes outside the classroom as well as considering recommendations and personal essays.

Benefits

The scholarship totals $10,000-$20,000 over four years and voice lessons.

Eligibility

  • For students in the Choral Arts who maintain at least a 2.8 grade point average. Talented singers are eligible for these scholarships, which are renewable for four years.
  • Scholars are expected to join the University Choir and one other Choral Ensemble in the Music Department. All financial aid applications must be completed.

A separate application from the Department of Music is required. For more information visit the Department of Music website for the online application.

There is a two-step audition process for those interested in Lehigh’s Cutler-Sametz Choral Arts Scholarship program.

The initial application is due January 17. This includes:

A recording of two solo classical works (art song, aria, chanson or Lied); it is preferable that one of these be in a language other than English

A letter of recommendation from a vocal or choral teacher

Based on the initial application, finalists will be invited to come to Lehigh’s campus for an interview with Directors Frook Gallo and Olson. This will include singing (it may be the pieces sent in part 1), and sight-reading.
