Description

The Dr Brian Rees Bursary was established through philanthropic support in memory of Dr Brian Rees OBE, a distinguished Welsh surgeon, educator and former international rugby player.

The bursary is designed to remove financial barriers for students with significant financial need who are entering the five-year undergraduate Medicine programme at Cardiff University.

One recipient receives support for the full duration of the degree, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Benefits

Full Home tuition fees paid directly to the University.

Annual maintenance stipend of approximately £10,000 for up to five years.

Eligibility

  • Must be a Home undergraduate student.
  • Must be starting the first year of the MB BCh Medicine programme.
  • Must be domiciled in the CF11 or CF24 postcode area.
  • Must demonstrate financial need, for example by receiving Free School Meals or an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA).
  • Must firmly accept an offer to study Medicine at Cardiff University by the relevant UCAS deadline.
