Description
The Cardiff University Bursary is available to eligible full-time undergraduate students who qualify for UK student funding for living costs and come from lower-income households.
The bursary is paid as a cash award and is available in addition to government-funded maintenance loans and grants. Students are reassessed each academic year and may continue to receive the bursary if they remain eligible.
Benefits
£500 per academic year.
A further £500 each year of study if the student continues to meet the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility
- Must be a full-time undergraduate student.
- Must qualify for UK student funding for living costs.
- Must have a household income of £35,000 or less.
- Must be paying tuition fees of at least £6,000.
- Must consent to share household income information with Cardiff University through the relevant UK student funding body.

There is no separate application. Eligibility is assessed automatically using the information provided to the relevant UK student funding body (such as Student Finance).
Students must not withhold consent to share their financial information with Cardiff University. Confirmation of eligibility is normally sent before the end of the first semester.
