Description

Headquartered at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), AVR3 is a pioneering research hub dedicated to advancing automated vehicle (AV) technologies specifically tailored for the unique challenges of rural, regional, and remote Australian roads. AVR3 fosters a collaborative network of experts from multiple academic partners (including QUT, the University of Sydney, UTS, UWA, Deakin, and Swinburne), and industry leaders such as Ford Australia, Seeing Machines, RACQ, The Department of Transport and Main Roads, National Transport Commission, Transport For NSW, and end users in agriculture, mining, and defense.

Benefits

You'll receive a stipend of $41,555 per annum for a maximum duration of 3.5 years while undertaking a QUT PhD (1.75 years for MPhil). The duration includes an extension of up to 6 months (PhD) or 3 months (MPhil) if approved for your candidature. This is the full-time, tax-exempt rate which will index annually.

You will receive a tuition fee offset/sponsorship, covering the cost of your tuition fees for the first 4 full-time equivalent years of your doctoral studies or the first 2 full-time equivalent years of your masters studies.

Successful candidates will be part of a world-class research environment that bridges the gap between academia and real-world application.

Eligibility

  • You need to meet the entry requirements for a QUT research degree, including any English language requirements.
  • Enrol as a full time, internal student (unless approval for part-time and/or external study is obtained).
  • Have an Honours or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in one of these areas:Engineering, Computer Science, Human Factors, Psychology, Data Science, Robotics, or a related policy/business discipline.
  • Have familiarity with empirical research methods, experimental design, or technical modelling relevant to your field.
  • Having a demonstrated publication record or potential in peer-reviewed conferences or journals is highly advantageous.
