2. Learn where to submit your university application

Hong Kong doesn’t use a centralised application system. This means international students have to apply individually to the university (or universities) where they want to enrol.

It’s a good idea to apply to multiple universities, even if you’re confident in your application. It’s better to have more options than to regret later!

3. Meet the university entry requirements

Admission requirements and other criteria vary significantly from one institution or study programme to another. That being said, some of the most common prerequisites are:

  • completed application form
  • proof of paying the application fee (if applicable)
  • high school diploma (to apply for a Bachelor’s)
  • Bachelor’s diploma (to apply for a Master’s)
  • proof of English proficiency
  • transcript of records

Deadlines for university application vary wildly based on the institution, the type of study programme, the number of applicants and so on.

In general, all applications should be submitted in spring because studies begin in early September and end in late May the following year.
