The on-campus residential halls provide a total of:
4,544 places for undergraduate students in UG Halls
120 places in single rooms for MBA students and Visiting Interns
900 places in single or double rooms for Research Postgraduate Students
We also have off-campus accommodation, and the university has also 21 apartments in Tai Po Tsai and Sam Long to provide accommodation for full-time postgraduate students on taught programs. You can apply to these at your school or program office.
Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the University must use their university or library cards for entry. Access to the Learning Commons after the Library closes is restricted to current HKUST students and staff only, using their own university cards.
All registered HKUST students are entitled to use the primary healthcare service available at the Medical Clinic. This facility provides free outpatient service to full-time students. However, it is not equipped to handle emergency situations and is only open during normal office hours.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s 60-hectare campus in Clear Water Bay is regarded by some as one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. Housed in a hillside and waterfront complex with spectacular sea view, its lush landscaping and modern facilities contribute to a pleasant living and learning environment. All education support services, state-of-art laboratories, the library and sport facilities are within walking distance.
There are a wide range of athletic and recreational facilities including a multi-purpose sports hall, an athletic field with all weather turf, modern running tracks, playing fields, tennis courts, squash courts, Olympic-size outdoor swimming pool, and an indoor swimming pool.
Active participation in campus life is an important component of university education. You are encouraged to join or even form your own student organizations and participate in activities for enjoyment and personal development.You can also participate in the governance of the University through various means, from serving as members on University Committees to conveying student's opinions and suggestions to staff members in a formal or informal manner.
