The Foundation Study Fund for South African Students (SSF) is part of a greater organisation, the Zuid-Afrika Huis in Amsterdam, a private institution, that aims to maintain and promote the cultural ties between the Netherlands and South Africa.
The SSF, established in 1885, is rooted in the history that firmly links South Africa with the Netherlands. It affirmed affinity with South Africa throughout its process of transformation and it now wants to contribute towards the building of a democratic society by offering young, bright South Africans the opportunity to gain access to high-quality education and research in the Netherlands.
Traditionally, the Dutch and Afrikaans languages are strong vehicles to maintain and strengthen the cultural links between the two countries, and projects in the realm of languages and literature are therefore an obvious focus of (people applying for a scholarship of) the SSF. However, there is ample evidence that the two countries have more to offer each other: academic links, exchanges and collaboration comprise all areas of the humanities.

Higher Certificate in Accountancy
I love studying at Unisa because I am one person who enjoy reading and studying alone. I love the fact that I attend my classes online via Teams. I am one person who is shy to stand out or give an opinion in front of a crowd. That is why I prefer studying online. Another thing about the university is that they provide data for students to get access to internet to do some research they need and also be able to log into the online classes. I love my university and I would recommend anyone who is focused to study alone and determined about his/her school work.
Good for Working students
I find the University of South Africa to be good as I am working. I do not have to attend classes every day, I mostly do my schoolwork on weekends. One of the advantages is that I can be able to pay for my studies as I work. It's hard to network with other students as most of the school work is done online.
Excellent
This is such a wonderful university especially for those who prefer distance learning. The support from the lecturers enables you to feel like you are attending physically. Classes are recorded for those who are not able to attend and can be viewed at a later stage.
