Tinbergen Institute offers a research master program in economics, econometrics and finance as well as PhD opportunities under expert supervision by our international research fellows.

Tinbergen Institute defines quality standards for researchers. Researchers of the three participating Schools of Economics who meet TI’s quality standards can become TI research fellows. TI has formed eight research groups, focused on specific fields in economics.

Ask any of Tinbergen Institute’s over 600 PhD alumni, and they will tell you that a degree from TI is a stepping stone to a successful career. Roughly half of them work in research universities in the Netherlands and abroad (including National University of Singapore, University of Essex, and Purdue University) — many as full and tenured professors.  A quarter of TI alumni work for national and international government organizations such as central banks, ministries, the World Bank and the IMF. The other quarter are employed in private-sector firms (usually large banks and consultancy firms).
