History
The history of Sorbonne University is inseparable from that of the University of Paris, founded in the 13th century, and the place which has become its main center of influence, the Sorbonne. It is in this crucible of the University of Paris, reorganized under the Third Republic and then split up into thirteen autonomous universities in 1968.

Thanks to the 55,300 students, 6,400 teacher-researchers and researchers and 3,600 administrative and technical staff who support it on a daily basis, Sorbonne University promotes diversity, creativity, innovation and openness to the world.
Research
Sorbonne University is characterized by a critical mass of research of very high level in a very broad disciplinary continuum, leadership and a high density of research in science and technology, life and environmental sciences, health, human sciences and society.
This critical mass is expressed through a very close partnership with Public Scientific and Technological Establishments (EPST) which are consubstantial with Sorbonne University within its perimeter, through a dense fabric of mixed research units with the CNRS and the 'Inserm, more focused with the IRD, and through the project-team model with Inria. As a result, Sorbonne University's strategy results from a strong synergy with these four EPSTs.

Different types of aid can be offered by the services depending on the student's situation:
- One-off aid
- Exemptions, exceptional refunds of registration fees
- Refund of registration fees for scholarship students who paid during administrative registration.
- The Solidarity and Development Fund for Student Initiatives can help you financially.
- Partly constituted by the Contribution to student and campus life which each student pays upon registration, this fund is available to students and their projects.
Housing services
The Paris Regional Student Services Office (CROUS; Centre Régional des Oeuvres Universitaires et Scolaires) is a public establishment under the French Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research. It's aim is to help improve the living and working conditions of students in the Académie de Paris (regional education authority).
Library services
The Sorbonne University Library (BSU) brings together 18 integrated libraries and is structured into documentary clusters and transversal departments.
The libraries, deployed on sites close to users, are grouped into three documentary centers, each corresponding to the perimeter of a faculty.
ICT services
UPMC offers various solutions for accessing the internet either from numerous work stations or from laptops using the Wifi network deployed across various sites.

Performance and adrenaline enthusiasts can invest themselves in parallel within the Sorbonne University sports association which organizes university competitions with the French federation of university sport (FFSU).

All Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi degrees are accredited globally and follow the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). They are also officially accredited by the UAE's Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).
