History
A Faculty Born from Change
Founded in 1991 after the Velvet Revolution, ECON MUNI was the first new faculty of Masaryk University in democratic Czechoslovakia—built on the values of openness, critical thinking, and societal impact.
Education
At ECON MUNI, we prepare students to understand and shape the economic, social, and policy challenges of today’s world. We combine strong analytical foundations with applied learning, offering programs in economics, finance, business management, public policy, regional development and tourism, and health economics. Our goal is to equip students with the knowledge, critical thinking, and international perspective needed for meaningful careers in both the public and private sectors.
Research
The research at ECON MUNI focuses on real-world economic and policy challenges with local relevance and global impact. We cover a broad spectrum—from public finance, labor markets, and sustainability to circular economy, regional development, health economics, and air pollution. Our interdisciplinary research often connects with public institutions, NGOs, and businesses, and students are actively involved in many projects.
Career
Graduates of ECON MUNI pursue careers across the public, private, and non-profit sectors—both in the Czech Republic and internationally. They work in finance, consulting, public administration, EU institutions, NGOs, international organizations, tourism management, and (in the future) healthcare economics. Many go on to roles in data analysis, policy-making, project management, or start their own businesses. Our alumni network includes professionals in major companies, ministries, research institutes, and global agencies.
