The history of Wildau begins with fisherman's families that settled by the Dahme River and then came to deliver sand, gravel and bricks from the region by boat to Berlin.
As a location for industry, it was mechanical engineering that put Wildau on the map. In 1897 the Schwartzkopff company established a locomotive works here, and built a works' housing complex that is a listed building today.

Wildau is the perfect environment for student life, offering affordable accommodation, short commutes, a good infrastructure, proximity to Berlin, easy accessibility with public transport (Wildau suburban railway station) and a wide variety of leisure activities.
Students can choose between accommodation in one of our halls of residence and renting a flat. Those who declare Wildau as their main place of residence will receive a »welcome bonus« payment from the local authority.

We have done everything we can to help you do well in your academic work in Wildau – not only by creating an outstanding learning environment, but also by providing optimal living conditions.
TH Wildau has its own sports hall (Friedrich-Engels-Str. 63), a weights room (in the hall of residence at Birkenallee 50) and two beach volleyball courts (on campus).
Diverse university sports societies are currently active: badminton, basketball, indoor soccer, handball, weight lifting, diving, table tennis, sailing and volleyball.
The sailing club at TH Wildau (SGW) has its own small boat (a Rügen model) as well as an agreement with a sailing school that enables SGW members to obtain their boating certificates and participate in sailing trips at special rates.
The members of the TH Wildau diving club primarily go diving in natural bodies of water around Wildau.
Many international students are studying at the University of Applied Science. Also, many courses are tought in English. This is a great experience and prepares well for working with partners from abroad.
