Education
HZ has around 5.000 students divided over four study years and 22 bachelor degree programmes, seven of which are taught in English. Some 500 students come from outside The Netherlands, so we have a great mix of Dutch and international students. Easy mathematics will tell you that with such numbers, classes are going to be small.
Research
A great deal of practical research is conducted at HZ. Questions from professional business practices are central focus points during this type of research. Issues are examined by lecturers, teacher researchers, business professionals and students. They are united in research centres and lectures, which all have a strong connection with the local area.
Career
Beginning in your first year with the HZ, you will be assigned a personal study career coach to assist with mapping out your individual study plan. This is extremely helpful in the beginning because at this stage you may not be fully aware of all possibilities available to help reach your goals. As you progress in in your studies, you will gradually make decisions independently but your personal coach is always available for advice.

Supportive Faculty and Growth-Oriented Environment
Studying abroad to advance my career, gain professional knowledge, and grow personally has been a transformative experience, pushing me out of my comfort zone. As an international student, this transition can be challenging, but the professors at our university have been incredibly supportive. They work diligently to provide high-quality education, ensuring that we fully grasp the concepts. One of our professors, Thomas Leich, consistently emphasizes the importance of self-learning and encourages us to utilize the university’s library to extract as much knowledge as possible. Overall, the supportive faculty, academic environment, and opportunities in Germany create an ideal setting for personal and professional growth, contributing to a brighter future for students like myself.
Overall impressions
Unlike the big universities, at HZ the groups of students are very small which makes you feel a lot more accommodated and at ease when participating in class. Bearing this in mind, it's also a lot easier to receive personal feedback and consult the teachers if necessary. Additionally, I like the distribution of the study load, how most courses are organized and the contents related to it.
