In 1970, the university moved progressively from the old city of Lausanne, around the Cathedral and the Château, to its present site at Dorigny. The end of the 20th century witnessed the beginnings of an ambitious project aiming at greater co-operation and development among the French-speaking universities of Lausanne, Geneva and Neuchâtel, together with the EPFL.
The University of Lausanne comprises more than 140 teaching or research units working in fields as diverse as genomics, aesthetics of cinema, environmental law and criminalistics.In institutes, laboratories and libraries, 3,000 researchers, including 558 professors, work every day on projects of national and international significance, thereby increasing the institution’s research capital. I really liked the fact that this unviersity has student from all over the world and promotes well cultural exchange. I also liked that it is a campus separated from the city, it makes it much more cozy. The only thing that I disliked is that in my major (Social sciences) there wasn't any group events like in all the other majors in Lausanne.
