Established in 1893, Writtle University College has been producing leaders in the land-based industries and organisations for more than 120 years.
Writtle is one of the oldest specialist institutions in the UK and offers a range of land-based, design and sport courses at various levels of academic study including Postgraduate, Undergraduate, Further Education, Short Courses and Apprenticeships. We also provide students with the options of being able to study certain courses on a part-time basis.
Research provision at Writtle University College has been established for many years and the research undertaken today primarily has a 'near market' practitioner focus, as well as developing and underpinning the curriculum. We have an active community of researchers who regularly publish and contribute to a variety of academic peer reviewed forums.
From cow behaviour tracking and crop analysis to sustainable development and landscape research, the research carried out at Writtle makes a significant contribution to the world around us.

We want you to get the most out of college and as such the Learner Services team are here to support you. We offer a range of services from financial hardship assistance through to welfare support and counselling. We can provide individually tailored learning support for students with a disability, specific learning difficulty or medical condition(s) as well as one to one and drop-in session support for students that might just need some help with their study skills.
The Accommodation Office provides advice and guidance on accommodation matters both on and off-campus, as well as processing halls applications and providing details of available off campus accommodation. Students often use the office as the first point of call for any student issues and will always receive a warm welcome.
We have 382 rooms available in 14 Halls of Residence set in beautiful gardens on the main campus. Halls are close to all main amenities such as the Bar and Recreation and Fitness Centre, catering outlets, library, computer suites and laundry facilities.
As well as providing a specialist book collection, the library offers access to a range of electronic journals, e-books and online databases. The study spaces include several computers, laptops for loan and Wi-Fi access for students with their own portable devices.
Students have access to eleven computer suites throughout the University College, with high specification machines capable of running the latest versions of software and accessing the Internet and student Intranet.
The Safeguarding & Wellbeing team play a key role in this and offer/provide a range of student services including counselling, welfare support, international student advice/support and safeguarding (including Prevent).
Writtle University College attracts students locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Our facilities and resources, based on our picturesque campus of approximately 200 hectares, are used to enhance the student learning experience, enabling them to gain both theory and practical skills whilst studying with us.
Writtle University College offers a range of activities, facilities and events that enable students, staff and our local community to stay in shape whilst studying, keep active outside of work and enjoy the physical and social aspect of sport.
The Students' Union are here to help each and every student that studies at Writtle University College, to make the most of your time here and hopefully improve your student experience. We are an extremely enthusiastic group of volunteers and part time members of staff, who get involved with everything around college and above all else looking after your interests.
I was involved in a lot of things like theroratical and practical study from which I have gained a lot of knowledge ,like growing plants from sowing of seed to harvest and yield under my observation having knowledge of mechanism inside and outside .
I have learnt a lot of things regarding my subject . I was involved in many theroratical and practical work ,and i took a lot knowledge, growing of plants and taking care of them from sowing to harvesting the yield , and now i am passionate about nature along with my field experience and knowledge. I want to resume my further studies .
The covid pandemic hit the school hard. Unfortunately, their amazing educators on the programme were faced with an option for future programmes, as delivery and enrolment has been declining. they decided to take forced resignation as they couldnt agree with the schools future directions. This left us with only 2 of the 5 educators on the programme, and with almost 0 online...
