I always wanted to do my Masters, but I was not sure what I would study and where. I came across an ad online for IE university in Spain, and decided to go visit their open-day when they were down here in CT. After the open-day session at the Spain Embassy in CT, I decided I will pursue my Masters in Marketing and Comms, my field of expertise. The process was lengthy, we needed to submit videos, had interviews, and I was finally accepted, and was very ecstatic! My challenge was how I would fund my studies, I always believe where there is a will there's a way. I applied for the IE University scholarship and received 25% scholarship from the University, which I am grateful for. Started the class a week later, I missed the physical campus block-week, as I had no funds to go, but that did not stop me, I pursued the course and put in all my savings and even sold my car. The experience was really awesome, meeting students from across 20+ nationalities, working in different time zones, working together as one team despite our cultural differences. I have come to appreciate and learn that even though we might come from different backgrounds, as a people, we are one human race, we will always have something in common. I loved the social WhatsApp group created, we learnt together and had fun together. My experience unfortunately got cut short, I had to defer after 1st semester as I could not keep up the monthly payments. However, IE University is really a great inclusive school, they were super patient with me, gave me the grace to finish my 1st semester before I withdrew, so I can come back to start the second semester in Fall 2026. I am still searching for a bursary to cover my second semester, but am pushing and remaining hopeful, have applied at a couple of places, but no luck, but I won't give up, it's my dream to graduate for my Masters at IE University, and I believe it will happen, where there is a Will, there's a Way! Foward I press on!
Student residences take care of time-consuming logistical issues such as utility bills and internet contracts so that you can focus on the important things! Many of them give you the option to sign up for additional services such as food and laundry. Plus, they are one of the best places to make friends and get to know Madrid! They recommend that their students reserve rooms in student residences as soon as possible, as there is limited availability and they can fill up quickly.
