In January 2002, Westminster International University in Tashkent opened its doors to the first 120 students on the Level 3 Certificate of International Foundation Studies (CIFS) course and the BA (Hons) in Business Administration degree. In 2004, the first 16 students graduated. Since the university’s establishment, the student population has grown to over 6,300.
The goal in establishing WIUT was to enable citizens of Uzbekistan and other countries to obtain an internationally recognised Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Information Systems, and Economics, Finance and Commercial Law, all validated by the University of Westminster. Since 2005, WIUT has offered internationally accredited Master's degree programmes in International Business Management, Applied Economics, Finance (MBA), Human Resource Management and Talent Development, Business Intelligence and Analytics, International Commercial Law, Research Methods for Social Sciences, Learning and Teaching, Public Health Science, Creative Industries Management and Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning.
Since its founding in 2002, WIUT scholars and students have been actively engaged in research in Uzbekistan, Central Asia and globally. Recent policy reforms have increased demand for evidence-based decision-making across the public and private sectors. In response, WIUT established the Centre for Policy Research and Outreach in 2018 to support government bodies and international partners. The Centre serves as a platform for dialogue between experts, policymakers and implementing agencies, producing applied research tailored to specific policy needs. In 2019, WIUT also launched a Scientific Council enabling PhD and DSc candidates to defend dissertations in Management and Econometrics & Statistics. Known for its independent voice, WIUT is widely trusted for high-quality analysis and recommendations.
Graduates of Westminster International University in Tashkent pursue diverse careers across public, private and civil society sectors. Many secure roles in banking, finance, accounting and consulting, or enter corporate graduate programmes in marketing, HR, operations and strategy. Leadership in Action To address these systemic issues, I have taken proactive steps to drive change: Advocating for Safe Alternatives: I initiated a deep dive into the composition of natural products. While managing the distribution of high-quality, plant-based supplements, I acted as an expert educator, guiding consumers toward informed choices and minimizing adverse effects. Identifying Critical Risks: During the documentation and registration process, I identified significant risks regarding validation and frequent deviations. I recognized that these issues stemmed from improper storage and manufacturing flaws. Instead of overlooking these gaps, I proactively worked to address these non-conformities, ensuring that only products meeting strict safety criteria moved forward. Optimizing Regulatory Processessafe medicines while maintaining rigorous compliance at the dossier submission stage. Results and Vision for the Future Over the past three years, my efforts have improved the accuracy of registration dossiers, significantly reducing the risk of sub-standard products reaching the market. However, to trigger a systemic shift—creating innovative natural medicine manufacturing in Uzbekistan—I require world-class management skills.

I had a very positive experience studying the MSc in Business Intelligence and Analytics. I especially appreciated the strong balance between theory and practical application, the relevance of the modules to industry needs, and the supportive academic staff. While the programme is already strong, adding more hands-on projects or industry-based case studies could enhance it further. Overall, the programme provided valuable skills and confidence for data-driven roles, and I would highly recommend it.

Westminster International University in Tashkent operates two university-managed halls of residence in Tashkent that provide accommodation for enrolled students (priority is given to non-Tashkent residents). For 2026/2027 the standard fee is 800,000 UZS (approximately 70 USD) per month, with advance payment options for term contracts (one or two instalments). The residences offer modern amenities, including study spaces and indoor gyms, and the Accommodation Office also supports students seeking other housing.
The Learning Resource Centre at WIUT is considered to be one of the best equipped libraries in Uzbekistan. It has a wide selection of academic journals, textbooks, fiction books, newspapers, and an extensive collection of guides for academic English and teaching skills, students’ final projects and educational audio-video materials.
Students at Westminster International University in Tashkent have full access to computers and reliable internet across campus. WIUT’s dedicated computer and innovation labs provide modern workstations and specialised software to support academic projects, research and collaboration, while high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus for laptops and mobile devices. For technical assistance, WIUT offers an IT Help Desk that supports university hardware and software. Students can contact the Help Desk in person, by phone or by email for troubleshooting and guidance.
Medical wards are available in all three campus buildings with the on-site nurse available to help you with urgent medical treatment should you need one. During the evening hours (18.00-20.00) nurses are available for urgent medical aid at the Campus.
WIUT is located in the heart of Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s capital, with all main buildings on a single central campus, making it easily accessible and close to the city’s cultural, business and transport hubs (including subway and bus stations). The campus blends historic architecture with modern facilities, including classrooms and collaborative learning spaces, innovation and IT labs, and specialised centres such as the Bloomberg Financial Research Lab and SAP Next-Gen Entrepreneurship Lab. WIUT’s 100-year-old building is located in the beautiful city center of Tashkent.
At WIUT, sports is a vibrant part of university life. The university regularly hosts a wide range of sporting events, such as the Rector’s Cup in various sports disciplines, from thrilling volleyball matches and competitive tennis and badminton tournaments to intense table tennis duels and spirited football championships. Its fully equipped indoor Sports Centre has a gym as well as an indoor stadium for mini-football, handball, badminton and volleyball. Outdoor sport facilities include basketball and football fields.
WIUT Students’ Union, or shortly SU, is students’ self-governance body. By students, for students, it serves to assist, support and engage students in a range of exciting and valuable experiences, protect students’ rights and represent all WIUT students in all communications with internal and external parties. Its executives are elected annually to serve the term of one year.
