The USJ's Programmes for the Dual Degrees
Christian Studies of the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy of the University of Saint Joseph (Macao SAR) is a four-year programme that offers dual degrees: the Bachelor (civil) of the USJ and an Integrated Master (canonical) of the UCP, Catholic University of Portugal. The USJ is a vibrant hub for the international exchange of culture, religion, education and politics, especially of the East and the West. It acts as bridge between the West and the East (China). The Programme offers a wide range of modules covering all major aspects of religions, history and politics. It also provides students both the technical means (online library) and practical means (campus library and other services) to facilitate their studies. Both the green campus and faculty campus are nicely organized, convenient to access and environmentally friendly. All the staff members and professors are kind and helpful. However, there are some weaknesses too. As a student of Christian Studies Programme, I frequently experienced overloaded assignments. The study of ancient languages (Latin, Greek and Hebrew) was difficult and time consuming. Furthermore, writing finals papers and annual portfolio submission were overloaded on students' shoulders. It was stressful and psychologically challenging. Learning Philosophies and Theology in English was initially hard. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied overall. The university provided a friendly environment for all students and staff members and professors as it intimately connected with the local community under the laws of Macao SAR's (Chinese) educational bureau.
A Journey from Psychology to Inclusive Education
My experience at the University of Saint (USJ) has been incredibly rewarding, shaping me from a psychology student passionate about mental health into a future educator dedicated to inclusive education. The psychology program grounded me in understanding human behavior and mental health, which I’ve been able to apply directly in my work with children, especially those with developmental delays and special needs. The hands-on internship opportunities at a local nursery was a highlight which turned my classroom learning into real-world impact, deepening my empathy and refining my inclusive teaching philosophy. One of the biggest strengths of USJ is its commitment to Macau’s unique multicultural context. The program encouraged me to engage with the community, from volunteering with children with special needs to collaborating with local educators. This focus on practical, community connected learning has been invaluable. If I could suggest one area for improvement, it would be expanding access to specialized resources for students focusing on inclusive education, such as more workshops on assistive technologies and workshops for parents/family members of children with special education needs. But overall, my time at USJ has equipped me with the skills, values, and passion to make a meaningful difference in Macau’s education system. I’m proud to be part of a university that prioritises both academic excellence and social responsibility.
just for learning
very short time to take the course and the practicum was not much care and related to the theory.

Sports facilities
Sports is an important and exciting part of student life at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). It is a component of education that challenges students by providing opportunities for them to attain the skills and knowledge to be physically active as part of a healthy lifestyle. There are five sports teams in USJ, including basketball, volleyball (men and women), badminton, soccer and fencing. Team members receive regular training with the assistance of their coach, which enables them to improve their skills, set up their goals and work through their way to fulfil them.
Student clubs
The University of Saint Joseph Students’ Association (USJSA) is an independent student body made up of students that conduct activities and services for the benefit of students first; acting as a bridge between the students and the administration. It is our wish to help bring about an active and progressive university experience. Using rational and transparent methods, with a healthy dose of creativity, as we work for the betterment of USJ student life and the university.
