History
Willamette University was founded in 1842 and is the first university established in the Western United States. The University's motto is “Not unto ourselves alone are we born.”
It established the first law school in the Northwest and pioneered the development of the integrated, and cross-sector philosophy of management education when it opened the Atkinson Graduate School of Management in 1974.
