History
University of Ilorin was one of the seven institutions of higher learning established by a decree of the Federal Military Government in August, 1975. This step, taken to implement one of the educational directives of the country’s Third National Development Plan, was aimed at providing more opportunities for Nigerians aspiring to acquire university education and to generate high level man-power.

Currently we now have 16 Faculties: Arts, Agriculture, Basic Clinical Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences , Clinical Sciences, Communication and Information Sciences , Education, Engineering and Technology, Environmental Sciences, Law, Life Sciences, Management Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Social Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.

Rigorous training in sociology and analysis in uni
A transformative learning experience
Studying B.Sc. Physiology at the University of Ilorin has been both challenging and rewarding. I really appreciated the hands-on lab sessions and engaging lectures, which strengthened my understanding of physiological processes, as well as the supportive lecturers and vibrant student community. One area for improvement could be more access to updated research resources and modern lab equipment. Overall, my experience has been enriching, helping me grow academically and personally, and inspiring me to seek international exposure to broaden my perspective.

What I like about my school is the experience I got .I lived my whole life in Ibadan so going to Ilorin to study was a big step . I would summarize my learning experience as being fun , learning new things and also being hard .

Student services
The Student Affairs Unit is one of the units under the Vice-Chancellor’s Office which is to ensure that Students’ Welfare in terms of health Facilities, hostel accommodation, Electricity and Water Supply as well as smooth Inter-Campus transportation systems are provided. This unit also ensures peaceful co-existence among the Students with their diverse ethnic, cultural and religions backgrounds on the two Campuses.
Library services
The University Library provides specialized online and offline services for all staff and students. We subscribed to the best of databases that provides researches with peered reviewed articles that impacts the quality of research output from the University
Medical services
The University health services department was established to cater for the overall health needs of the students, staff and staff dependents of the University community. The clinic is located on the Campus and provided a comprehensive health care covering both curative and preventive medicine.
Campus life
The Main Campus currently houses the Faculties of Science, Engineering & Technology, Agriculture, Education, Law, Arts, Business and Social Sciences, (following the completion of the new seven-storey Senate Complex), the Unilorin Sugar Research Institute, Postgraduate School, the Main University Library, Computer Services and Information Technology (COMSIT), Works Yard, Conference Centre, Unilorin Resources Development and Management Board (URDMB), Student Canteens, the newly completed 2,000 seat multipurpose Auditorium and the Alumni/ Endowment Office.
