SDSI is a relatively new Master’s programme with a focus on interdisciplinary studies and cross-specialization in design, management, business and social sciences. We will help you become a versatile service innovator who can enable change in public and private organizations through strategic design, management and creative leadership.

Housing services
- In Kuldiga, Latvia:
Kuldiga is a city of tourist apartments. Our team now is preparing a special catalogue for the SDSI students so they can find the best apartment fitting their needs.
- In Rovaniemi, Finland:
The local student housing foundation, Domus Arctica (DAS), offers an off-campus accommodation. There are shared apartments, studios, and family apartments.
- In Tallin, Estonia:
Also the capital city of Estonia will welcome students with specific offer, depending on their needs and options.
Most important fact is that SDSI local advisors – the welcoming team – will help you to find your previously selected accommodation and orient in each of the new locations where the programmed will bring you.
Library services
During the 1st and 2nd semesters, while studying in Kuldiga, Latvia, the students will be granted access to use the e-library and online services of the University of Lapland. This will be organized during the kick-off week, when the students will also be awarded the credentials which allow the access to the library.
ICT services
Laptop computers may be hired at the University of Lapland. Any questions regarding student support can be individually discussed with the SDSI incoming team members.
Medical services
Students who will qualify for the scholarships, will be also supported with fully covered insurance.
Remaining students shall obtain at their own cost health and third party liability insurance, which must be valid during the entire enrollment with SDSI. Healthcare facilities are located off campus, and SDSI Incoming team is available for questions and assistance.
Campus life
The educational journey will begin in the historical city named Kuldiga. It is located in the western part of Latvia and known as "the city with soul". You might have heard about the widest waterfall in Europe- "Ventas rumba" - it is just 10 minutes away from the faculty.
After the first two semesters, the studies will continue in Finland, Rovaniemi and Tallinn, Estonia, providing a real adventure indeed.
Students will have access to vast and modern resources of SDSI partner schools, including prototyping studios and makerspaces in an international learning and networking environment. City center, stores, sports and beauty services, and many other are available nearby the study locations.Sports facilities
SDSI students come from all corners of the globe. Although our primary goal is to educate these future professionals and researchers, we also want our students to enjoy themselves while studying here. Numerous cultural opportunities and outdoor recreation and sports facilities are available in the cities of Kuldiga in Latvia, Rovaniemi in Finland and Tallinn, Estonia, which ensure that students are able to lead sociable and healthy lives outside of the classroom. The available services include wellness centres, swimming pool, sauna, and other.
Student clubs
The Art Academy of Latvia, the University of Lapland and the Art Academy of Estonia have vivacious Student Unions, who take care of the students’ rights and interests. The Unions make sure that the students’ voice is heard everywhere at the University and in the surrounding society. Unions have their representation in the administration of the University, and also represent students in both the local and the national level of decision-making. The student unions arrange a variety of events and activities, offers services and negotiate student discounts for various services. Those include a discount to public transportation, museum tickets, wellness pass, swimming pool, sauna, legal aid and other.
