Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is Malaysia's 17th public institution of higher learning. Approved by the Malaysian Cabinet in May 2001, it started off as a university college - Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan Utara Malaysia (KUKUM).

Generally, all students affairs are managed by the Office of Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA) UniMAP. The recruitment of students and student affairs are managed by the Academic Division, Registry Department and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Office (Academic Affairs and International.

UniMAP is located in Perlis. The smallest state in Malaysia, Perlis lies at the northern part of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is bordered by Thailand's Satun and Songkhla provinces to the north and the Malaysian state of Kedah to the south. This pleasant little state has a population of approximately 253,000 comprising mainly of Malays (the majority), Chinese and Indians.
