Student services

The SHTM provides Academic Advising to students upon their entry into a degree programme, up through the time they finish their study and graduate. Students registered in four-year degree programmes are required to see their respective Academic Advisor at least once per semester, and at least twice per year, giving students the proper advice to ensure that their study is on the right track.

Housing services

There are two blocks of student halls, namely, Hung Hom Halls and Homantin Halls, available for application. There is also a university-managed Off-campus Housing site, Chun Fook Mansion, which provides an accommodation option for students.

Library services

The SHTM's Che-woo Lui Hotel and Tourism Resource Centre offers students a comprehensive range of digital and print resources, references, and teaching materials on hospitality, hotel, tourism, wine, and event management. The centre also maintains an in-house database and catalogue, both of which can be accessed and searched online.

Pao Yue-kong Library, the University’s library, provides students with integrated and timely access to high quality scholarly resources and an inspiring environment for intellectual growth and discovery.

Campus life

At the SHTM, students enjoy diverse opportunities for international exposure and practical experience.

“Lucky for me to have the chance to live and experience Hong Kong - SHTM is right in the middle of the city so you're very much in the hustle and bustle. During my time at SHTM, the community and friends that I met were second to none. “—Ms Amanda Wantono, BSc graduate from Indonesia/Channel Account Manager, Odoo, Hong Kong

"The programme has equipped me with ample opportunities and experiences to understand my strengths and plan for my career path. The summer internships have widened my horizon and the exchange programme was the unforgettable gem. Thanks to the highly diverse student body, I have learnt diversity and inclusion during my programme. In fact, most of the ‘advantages’ come after graduation – I have connections to the School’s alumni globally." — Ms Pureanae Jang, BSc graduate from Korea/Associate Director, Valuation and Advisory Services, Colliers International Hong Kong

“One word for SHTM? Extraordinary. My journey here has been an absolute pleasure. Despite the classroom lectures, there are tons of other exciting components that constitute the whole transformational learning experience. For me, I’ve always loved the culinary and wine classes. And I’ve got the opportunity to exchange to the Boston University. And then I got into work placement in a management training programme co-hosted by SHTM & Hotel ICON. I got to get my hands dirty and secured the management foundation. It definitely laid the ground for who I am today.” — Mr Matthew Kum, BSc graduate from Hong Kong/Project and Account Manager, Palatino Hospitality

“Being an SHTM graduate helps us to connect and network with other alumni in the industry. As an internationally renowned school, employers recognise this and are confident in knowing that our knowledge and skillset are honed for a strong start in the industry. During my time at SHTM, all the fundamentals were covered to set me up for a good career in the hospitality industry.” —Mr Zelotes Lam, BSc graduate from Canada/Senior Manager, Operations & Efficiency, Swire Hotels, Hong Kong

Sports facilities

Students are given access to a variety of sports facilities including Shaw Sports Complex, Michael Clinton Swimming Pool, Fong Shu Chuen Hall and Kwong On Jubilee Sports Centre.
