The University of New York in Prague (UNYP) was established in April 1998 in cooperation with the State University of New York, New Paltz, and the State University of New York Empire State College. This cooperation enables UNYP to offer students the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognized American bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York.
Our undergraduate programs are based on the teaching styles used in American colleges and universities. Our programs are designed to introduce students to a range of academic disciplines, to prepare them to master the techniques of critical thinking, effective communication, analysis and research, and acquire the knowledge necessary for a professional specialization in a major field. All of our classes are taught in English.
In 2009, a research budget was established at the University of New York in Prague to support the faculty in all of the schools in their research work, and to facilitate and increase the university’s research output. Since then, research at UNYP has developed steadily. Our faculty members are highly active in conducting significant research and publishing their work within the Czech Republic and abroad in academic journals, research conferences and books. UNYP faculty members also contribute to popular journals and magazines, and many are recognized as leading experts in their respective fields due to their media presence.
The UNYP Career Center is conjoining the university and business, graduates and the employment market. One of Career Center objectives is to help students develop their careers and makes available the UNYP’s institutional networks.
UNYP is also committed to its students even after the graduation (Alumni) and provides a range of career services for professional development and (re-) orientation.

Several accomodations in Prague could be options for freshmen students. As these are suitable housing options for many newcomers to Prague and availability may be limited, it is important to book a room early.
The University of New York in Prague Library is centrally located at Londýnská 32, and has around 18,000 books, periodicals, and audio/visual materials (most in English, with a few foreign-language holdings).
Students can make use of the printing and copy machines placed within the building by using the intranet. Google Cloud Print is also available for students and teachers. Students can use our Wi-fi coverage to connect their own devices anywhere in the building. UNYP students also have access to the ProQuest 5000 International set of online databases from the school’s computer labs.
The UNYP Counseling Center is available to help our university students by providing confidential free psychological counseling for various mental health issues. To cope with the pressures and expectations that come with student life, the Counseling Center provides individual counseling, seminars, and workshops to support students in their academic and personal lives.
Our campus is located in the beautiful and quiet district of Vinohrady, home to stunning architecture and beautiful parks just steps from the center of Prague. The University campus is excellently situated between two public transport hubs, I. P. Pavlova and Náměstí Míru, for easy access to downtown or around Prague. The location provides ideal conditions for teaching and learning as well as student life.
UNYP is a private university with over 800 students from more than 60 countries which make for a very diverse and international community. Students have access not only to modern and well-equipped campus facilities, but also to Prague’s many cultural attractions and events.
Athletic participation is a way for students to grow and learn and enjoy themselves and to use and develop their personal, physical and intellectual skills. MUNYP has emerged as an initiative for creating a platform for young scholars interested in international relations to discuss global current affairs. Since Fall 2015, our club has grown considerably in size, with students showing dedication, passion and enthusiasm in meetings and their increasing interest in participating in domestic or international model UN conferences.

The examinations of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) are the most widely recognized qualifications in Europe. ACCA recognizes several UNYP undergraduate courses as providing exemptions from some ACCA exams.
