History
Campus Fryslân was started in 2011 with funding from the province of Fryslân and the municipality of Leeuwarden. It officially became the eleventh faculty of the University of Groningen in 2015.
Education
Studying at University of Groningen/Campus Fryslȃn means studying at an international, interdisciplinary faculty at a top 100 University. Teaching and research are related to real-world challenges and tie in with the motto “Global challenges, local solutions”. You will be encouraged to tackle issues from a range of perspectives and the multidisciplinary approach will enrich your knowledge and skills. This approach is reflected in faculty's teaching and research activities. Here, the knowledge and skills that we have acquired over the years are routinely challenged with research questions from everyday practice with the aim of having a positive societal impact.
Research
The Graduate School Campus Fryslân is dedicated to performing rigorous scientific and innovative research. At the GSCF we aim to educate and train creative and successful scholars, making Leeuwarden become the City of Innovative Solutions. To those ends, we are committed to recruiting the best and brightest, performing innovative research around the Frisian Flagships, and acquiring grants to subsidize and valorize research.
Career
The faculty at Campus Fryslân can help with career orientation questions, and questions about the job market and career opportunities for students. Campus Fryslân's bachelor and master programmes are closely linked to the working world and all hold elements in which you deal with real world problems, for example through the Living Lab, field projects or a simulation exercise. These programmes regularly host guest lecturers from industry and offer some business visits and field trips. The yearly Intern Impact event is focused on helping students find internships or partners for their final projects.

After being admitted you have to find a place to live in Leeuwarden. A place you can call home. The good news is that you will find relatively easy a suiting accommodation in Leeuwarden. Students often rent a room in a shared house or an apartment with other students. Not your style? Then you might want to opt for a one-bedroom or studio apartment. Real estate agents or private landlords advertise their rooms on different platforms. Please note: UCF offers guaranteed accommodation for first-year GRL students.
Library services
Staff and students of Campus Fryslân may use the entire collection of the University of Groningen Library. There is one central catalogue for the complete collection: SmartCat. Requested books can be collected and returned at Tresoar in Leeuwarden.

Students and staff can logon to the Eduroam network.
Medical services
Everyone residing in the Netherlands is required by law to have valid health insurance, so you will need to be properly insured by an internationally recognized insurance agency. International students are not automatically ensured. There are various types of health insurance.
Campus life
Leeuwarden is the main city and the economic and cultural centre of the greenest and cleanest province in the Netherlands: Friesland. Leeuwarden is becoming more and more popular as a student city, and with good reasons. It offers unique interdisciplinary study programmes in a cozy but vibrant historical city centre with plenty of things to do!
With 127,000 residents (including approximately 28,000 students), Leeuwarden is a relatively small city. This is ideal, as it means that no matter where in Leeuwarden you live, you will never be far from the city centre and everything is easily accessible!
Sports facilities
There are plenty of possibilities to engage in sports in Leeuwarden, for example at the Bewegingscentrum Leeuwarden sports centre and the Basic-Fit and Fit For Free gyms. As well as sports centres and gyms, there are also many student sports associations that not only help you to stay fit but also to meet fellow students. As a student, you can do sport in Leeuwarden for a low price with the Student Sports Leeuwarden sport card: unlimited sport from just € 95 per year or € 55 per half a year!
Student clubs
In Leeuwarden, you can find a large range of student associations. They are ideal to join if you would like to get to know more people, for instance, if you enjoy being sociable or if you want to build up a network. Some of the student associations in Leeuwarden have existed for decades, some have been recently formed and some are geared towards international students.
