The Summer International University in Santander was created on 23rd August 1932. Once courses began in 1933, under the Rectorship of Ramón Menéndez Pidal and with Pedro Salinas as General Secretary, an intense academic and cultural activity was developed, uniting the best intellectuals of the period.
Menéndez Pelayo International University offers Official Postgraduate Programs, adapted to the European Higher Education Area, leading to nationally recognized Masters' and Doctoral Degrees.
The UIMP already has implemented eight Doctoral Programs which are carried out thanks to the participation and collaboration of the High Council for Scientific Research (6 programs), the Center for Economic, Monetary and Financial Studies, belonging to the Bank of Spain (1 program) and to the those universities which participate in the Interuniversity Program in Contemporary History.

The choice of accommodation with Spanish families is managed by an external company under the supervision of the UIMP. To book homestay accommodation it´s necessary to be enrolled in the Spanish Language Courses.
The University offers our students the possibility to apply for accommodation in the own residences or with a family.
Single or double ensuite rooms and adapted rooms for those with disabilities. The campus offers: Library, cafeteria, dining room, study rooms, IT rooms, kitchen, laundry service and self-service launderette, parking, green areas and sports facilities. 24 h Reception.
