At SCNM, they take a different approach to research. The faculty and students are putting the science behind naturopathic therapies and creating new treatments for therapeutic care. This work is often performed in collaboration with other institutions so as to improve integration of naturopathic medicine in a larger health arena.

The study of sociology offers a deeper insight into various aspects, such as the reasons behind social disparities, including variations in social behavior, as well as the factors contributing to disparities in group opportunities and outcomes. Additionally, it sheds light on the significance of social hierarchies and power dynamics in daily life. Delving into sociology has enhanced my understanding of my own experiences. Through the lens of the "sociological imagination," I have come to realize that my personal circumstances are not unique; rather, they are shaped by recognizable patterns in behaviors, processes, and opportunities that give rise to diverse lived experiences among individuals, consequently resulting in disparities in outcomes. One motive for my visit to India was rooted in sociology, as India stands out as a nation teeming with diverse cultures, religions, and a rich tapestry of social class distinctions and lifestyles. When I refer to India as a country characterized by immense cultural diversity, I am alluding to the multitude of distinct social groups and communities coexisting within its borders. These communities are delineated by cultural identifiers such as language, religion, sect, race, or caste, aspects from which I have gleaned valuable insights.
One member of the SGA also serves on SCNM’s Board of Trustees and various college committees and task forces. Very few academic institutions in the nation have a student representative as part of their board. Here at SCNM, they recognize that students are the largest part of the SCNM community, and they value the representation of their student body’s voice in the executive decision-making process.
