IZU was founded in 2010, the main Campus is built on a 6000m2 land inherited from a great ottoman agricultural college, which was founded in 1892. The main building is still preserved today and students will see on campus a mix of modern and historical architecture. Mehmet Akif Ersoy, a famous Turkish poet once studied there and a hall on campus was named after him.
IZU’s objective is to build an internationally renowned institution that meets the aspirations. IZU grooms and fosters intelligent and talented students who will lead people to a better future. “Zaim” means leader in the old language which evidently shows what to be expected of IZU students. They are prospected to be outstanding examples for society, have a good command of foreign languages and powerful abilities to integrate science and art.

The Career centre can assist students searching for internships and work experience during their education. The International Students Office and its staff assist and guide international students from freshman to alumni. Students become familiar with the student Office at the beginning of their university life at IZU. They are welcome to come and ask advice with issues they face on and off campus (visa, residence permit etc.)
International Students Club operates as a buddy system so that newcomers always find themselves in an international community. Throughout the years there are many ‘intellectual and social event.
IZU Student Guesthouses (dorms) offers safe, comfortable and segregated accommodation.There are also guesthouses for lecturers, staff, and visitors with state of the art facilities. Both the student dorms and visitors guesthouses are run and managed by professional staff, which oversees the facilities around the clock. Students are provided with good personal space to focus on their academic studies and a social environment to engage into social activities.
IZU has many local libraries on campus with various databases, E-Journals, E-books, computers, and a wide collection of books that will assist students with their studies.
The biggest newly opened library has a capacity of 1 million books.The university libraries offer a great and peaceful study environment for everyone. They are opened every day of the week and 24/7 during exam seasons.
There are 354 computers with internet connection around the campus open for student access. These include computers in the library, faculty buildings, social spaces and other computers with different capabilities in laboratories. The students can connect to free hi-speed wifi with their “eduroam” accounts everywhere around the campus. The university also provides Microsoft 365 accounts.
There is an infirmary on campus with registered nurses that provide assistance for minor illnesses or injuries. For more serious checkups there are 3 local hospitals around the university, all are walking distances.
IZU also values mental health social wellbeing. Students can make an appointment with a registered psychologist on campus that will listen and assist students to overcome problems.
The on campus offers facilities include cafeterias, cafes, indoor and outdoor sport centers, football, basketball and tennis fields, computer labs, addit?onally two libraries and a third Library under construction.
The campus is 5 Miles away from the Atatürk International Airport and only a mile away from shopping malls (Mall of Istanbul). Just outside the university’s main doors there is a few supermarkets, cafes, hairdressers and parks.
The University also offers hourly shuttle services to various underground stations from campus.

The sport facilities on campus include:Indoor and outdoor sport centers, football field, basketball pitch, tennis fields, a number of gyms and a golf court. IZU is renowned for its traditional and modern archery and rowing. There are university sport clubs and teams for the variety of facilities.
There are a range of societies on campus where students can participate in:
International Students Club, Business Society, University Football team, Archery club, Debate club, Music clubs, Canoe club, Poetry club, Architecture, IZU youth charity, Pilates and Zumba classes. i like how the architecture department in my university focus in the projects more and the support the activities related to our career . and also , i did not need to take an extra classes outside the university since the most needed things and classes were provided inside .
