Lycoming College is now in its third century. From its beginnings in 1812 as the Williamsport Academy, its curriculum has centered on the liberal arts and sciences. The Charter described the initial educational focus as the study of “English and other languages” and “the useful arts, sciences and literature.”

Lycoming College believes that campus living is an important part of the college experience and that the learning that occurs in the campus residences is a critical ingredient in the growth, development and education of our students. As a residential college all students are required to live in campus housing and participate in the board (meal) plan all four years. For questions regarding the College Residency Policy or to request an exception to the policy, contact the Office of the Vice President for Student Life.
Behind every successful student is an expansive support team, and here at Lycoming College, that team includes our Department of Health Services, ensuring students’ health does not interfere with their ability to succeed academically and socially.

Lycoming College's athletic facilities are among some of the finest for any institution, regardless of size or NCAA Division.
In summer 2005, the lacrosse/soccer field was resurfaced with FieldTurf, allowing the teams to practice year-round. In the summer of 2012, the football field at David Person Field was also resurfaced with FieldTurf, keeping it among the finest facilities in the Northeast.The various student organizations existing at Lycoming College provide numerous opportunities for involvement and leadership.
Students are expected to become contributors to campus life by actively involving themselves in student government, service and social organizations, academic clubs and club sports. The clubs and organizations are sponsored by Student Senate of Lycoming College.

Lycoming College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which works with colleges and universities in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States, Puerto Rico, and other geographic areas.
