History
Palomar College has a history rich in tradition and educational achievements. On January 15, 1946, registered voters in the Vista Unified School District, the Fallbrook Union School District, and the Escondido Union High School District voted 714 to 417 in favor of establishing a “junior college” in the North San Diego County area.

Student services
The Division of Enrollment Services is committed to excellence. We provide support services that enable prospective and current students to successfully navigate college and meet their learning goals. The division is made up of professionals who serve in the following areas: Admissions, Evaluations, Financial Aid, International Education, Records, Scholarships, and Veterans. We value empowerment, collaboration, and innovation. We complete our work accurately and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. We work as a team and in partnership with all other areas of the college from a student’s first point of contact through completion. We care about our students and their success.
Medical services
Palomar students have healthcare through Health Services on campus. Many students may not realize that upon enrollment at Palomar College a fee was paid for health insurance. That fee, per semester, is only $19. This is a state-mandated fee for all students, full and part-time, plus it comes with many benefits.
Campus life
The Palomar campus is located in San Marcos, California, approximately 30 miles north of San Diego.
Sports facilities
Palomar College maintains twenty-one (21) men’s and women’s varsity-sport teams including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, track and field, men’s and women’s water polo, men’s and women’s volleyball and wrestling in our Athletics program.These year-round activities take a heavy toll on our athletic fields. The Facilities Department Grounds Services crew supports these activities by providing a vigorous turf that can stand up to these heavy demands.
Student clubs
New Student Orientation is an excellent way for new students to meet other students, become familiar with the campus and student services, as well as begin your education plan early by meeting with a counselor in a group session.
