The Feeling of Sisterhood and Inclusivity
I love my HBCU because it is an institution centered around black woman's excellence filled with African American women from different backgrounds. I've been able to participate in various pageants, organizations, and community service projects that I am passionate about. Spelman has an extremely supportive environment the pushes its students to succeed academically and socially.
Student services
The Dean of Students' Office is ultimately responsible for working closely with a variety of agents, offices and departments to create a vibrant community that enhances the quality of student life on campus.
Housing services
Most of the rooms in the residence halls are double occupancy, but there are some singles, triples, quads, and a few rooms designed for five people. Each room is equipped with a twin-sized bed, dresser, closet, desk and chair for each occupant. There are also phone jacks, ethernet and cable connections for each student. While amenities vary somewhat from building to building, they generally include kitchens with microwaves, laundry rooms, TV and study lounges, and meeting areas. There are also mini computer labs in some facilities.
Library services
The library supports the teaching, learning and research missions of four institutions of higher education that comprise the world’s largest consortium of HBCUs.
ICT services
The Student Technology Assistance Center (STAC) is a welcoming place for students to come for computer assistance. The main goal of STAC is to increase computer and technology literacy throughout the campus by providing peer-based assistance.
Medical services
The Department of Student Health Services works to help each student achieve maximum physical health for full participation in the educational experiences offered by the College. We are committed to providing the highest quality of health care and health education to our students.
Campus life
There are 11 residence halls on campus that house approximately 1,200 students. Each building has its own unique character and maintains its rich history while also assuming the personality of its residents. We are excited about our new residence hall that opened in 2008.
