History
Weill Cornell Medical College was founded in 1898, with April 14, 1898, marking the official date. The Medical College was established and generously endowed through the gifts of Colonel Oliver H. Payne and quickly became a national leader in medical instruction.
Education
Since its inception, the Medical College has followed an educational philosophy that emphasizes the importance of combining a strong basic foundation in the medical sciences with extensive clinical training in patient care.
Research
Research is a critical component of any successful career in science and medicine, which is why Weill Cornell Medical College emphasizes student research in its curriculum. Weill Cornell students have access to research opportunities with top faculty members in an array of fields. These opportunities range from short-term and summer projects to year-long, funded fellowship programs.
Weill Cornell Medical College celebrates student research with Medical Student Research Day, an annual event where WCMC students make presentations and share their research with faculty members and fellow medical students.

Powerful but financially challenged

Student clubs
MSEC is an elected group of five students per class as that meets once a month during the school year. MSEC represents all medical students in all years and works to fund and organize school-wide student events and activities, as well as lobby and advocate for student needs. With annual budget provisions, the MSEC is a major source of funding for more than seventy student clubs and organizations.
Accreditation
In March of 2018, Weill Cornell Medical College will again be visited by a survey team of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association.
