History
Although it seems to be a relatively young university – established in 1994 – it has a long academic tradition since it was founded as a result of joining one of the best Polish pedagogical academies – the Higher Pedagogical College in Opole and Opole branch of the Catholic University in Lublin.
Education
The University of Opole is continually expanding its educational offer and is developing cooperation with academic and business partners both in Poland and abroad. Our students can go on placements and exchanges within the framework of Erasmus+ programme or Europa Master Programme. They can obtain various scholarships and grants and can develop their interests and passions taking part in a wide range of activities in the fields of science, sport and culture.
Research
The University of Opole cooperates in various fields with partners in Europe, Asia and America. Numerous research programmes are realized and scientific journals are published within the frameworks of international agreements. The cooperation includes scientific research issues, placements, doctoral studies, scholarships, language courses and student exchanges based on bilateral agreements.
Career
The Labor Market of the Opole University is a cyclical event organized in the spring of each year by the Academic Career Center. One day of the fair filled with job offers, apprenticeships and internships, trainings, inspiring lectures and networking, thanks to which students and employers have the opportunity to exchange expectations, experiences and face the challenges posed by the labor market.The Job Exchange is a unique opportunity for Employers to meet potential employees with academic education, and for Students it is an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the requirements of the labor market and establish the first collaborations that move beyond the walls and result in employment.

They measure the rate of students going to their second year of studies, as well as the rate of students who graduate. It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.

Housing services
University of Opole offers accommodation in its students’ halls of residence (“Niechcic” and “Kmicic” dormitories) located on the University campus, close to the city centre, in Katowicka Street, Opole. We offer places in modules, which consist of one double and one triple room, shared bathroom and kitchen at the price of approximately 380 PLN (about 100 EUR) per month. The rooms are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, wardrobes; the kitchen is equipped with a fridge and an oven. There is also an Internet connection and a cable TV connection available in each room. The hall of residence fee is being payed monthly in advance.
Library services
The Main Library of the University of Opole is the biggest academic library in Opole Province. It has over 900,000 books, journals and special editions. The Library consists of 11 specialist libraries, whose resources correspond to educational and research fields of the relevant faculties and institutes of the University.
ICT services
eduroam (Education Roaming) is a registered trademark registered by the TERENA organization , is a project aimed at providing a secure wireless network within the scientific environment.
Every employee or student registered in their home scientific institution participating in the eduroam project can access the Internet at any other institution participating in the project in Europe.
Campus life
Our campus is located right in the centre of Opole. Thus, a 12-minute walk will get you to the Old Market, 20 minutes and you are at the railway station, 5 minutes and you are watching a movie at the multi-screen cinema. If you want to swim or do shopping, no problem, a swimming pool and a shopping centre are also close by. If you are hungry and you do not feel like cooking anything by yourself visit bars, cafes or restaurants located within a walking distance from the campus. If you are tired of walking you can use a city bike and reach some beauty spots Opole is famous for.
Sports facilities
You like jogging, roller skating, playing basketball or volleyball, or maybe you do yoga, CrossFit or body-building? Well, that’s great ‘cause sport at our University is not just a PE course but a way of life. Our campus is the main site of our sports facilities with a complex of fields and an open-air gym at its centre.
You can choose from a range of 28 sport courses: aerobics, fitness, mind/body aerobics, body-building, skating, basketball, soccer, indoor soccer, volleyball, martial arts, ballroom dancing, table tennis, mountain and lowland tourism, cycling tourism, cycling and kayak tourism, jogging, roller blading, rowing, CrossFit or dance aerobics.
