History
Dean College has undergone many transformations since its founding in 1865 by Dr. Oliver Dean , a native of Franklin who began his career as a medical doctor but joined the Industrial Revolution. During World War II, Dean transformed significantly by adding a Junior College. In the 1990s, under the leadership of President Paula M. Rooney, the institution evolved once again, becoming Dean College.
Education
Dean College offers Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Bachelor’s of Arts, Bachelor’s of Science and certificates with a strong history of helping our students through either two or four years of education.

Dean College students are provided housing for their entire tenure on campus, provided that they adhere to our Housing Agreement.
Library services
The E. Ross AndersonLibrary at Dean College has a comprehensive collection of print and on-line resources to support your research needs. The library houses over 35,000 books, 50+ databases, and 105 periodical subscriptions including extensive reference materials.
ICT services
The Technology Service Center (TSC) provides technical assistance to students, staff and faculty.

Dean College Health Services is staffed by a highly skilled and caring team of Nurse Practitioners, a consulting physician and an office manager.

Sports facilities
- Dean takes advantage of our recently renovated Longley Athletic Complex, which features outdoor playing fields that cover more than nine acres.
- For basketball, Pieri Gymnasium seats 900 fans and a great place to support the home team. Adjacent to the gymnasium is Memorial Hall, central location for Dean trophies and awards highlighting the rich history of our athletic programs.
- The college just recently constructed a new synthetic surface for practice and early spring games on Grant Field, located at the rear of Pieri Gymanium. The primary practice area for football, it will also be utilized by all outdoor sports, as well as recreation and intramurals.

Accreditation
Founded in 1865, Dean is fully accredited and has the history, reputation and status students expect from a 150-year old college. Several of our buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
