New London, Connecticut, United States
Founded in 1911, Connecticut College today is where liberal education is being redefined for the 21st century. Our Connections approach encourages students to ask personal and meaningful questions and explore answers by integrating courses from multiple disciplines, engaging in off-campus learning and sharing what they have learned with the larger community.

History

The College was founded in 1911, but its history began in 1909 when Wesleyan University announced that it would no longer offer admission to women. At that time, more women than ever were seeking higher education and demanding the right to vote. A committee was formed and towns across the state of Connecticut began offering prospective sites.

Education

Connections is Connecticut College's reinvention of liberal arts education—a new kind of curriculum that lets you integrate your interests into a meaningful educational pathway to carry you through college and into a fulfilling, effective career and life.

Research

Research at Conn isn’t limited to the STEM fields. In fact, we offer a special stipend for work in the humanities, social sciences and arts through our ConnSSHARP program (Connecticut College Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts, Research Program.)

Most Conn science students engage in research, including projects supported by major federal and private foundation grants.

Career

At Conn, career planning is embedded in your entire four-year experience. You’ll have an advising team, including a faculty member, a career adviser, a fellow student and a staff member, who will guide you from your first year throughout your time here.

Our nationally recognized program gets results. A year after graduating, on average, 95 percent of our alumni are employed or in graduate school.

Conn Coll

I feel at home in my university and want to make them proud. This is why I have joined CISLA which is an organization which funds internships abroad.

Collegium Civitas

I would say we have too many online classes. I prefer to meet professors face-to-face and be able to talk and discuss things in real life. But in overall I like my studies and university. I had a chance to make friends with other students, join to the student clubs and participate in workshops and other meetings which university conducted.

Student services

The Dean of the Faculty is the principal adviser to the president on academic affairs and leads the faculty in its deliberations on the educational policies of the College. This office promotes academic excellence in research, teaching and service. It also oversees all academic departments, centers and programs at the College; is responsible for appointment of academic department chairs and directors of interdisciplinary major programs as well as the appointment, promotion and tenure of individual faculty members; and is responsible for the academic quality of the curriculum.

Housing services

We have one of the most extraordinary hometowns of any liberal arts college in the nation. Nestled between the shores of Long Island Sound and the banks of the Thames River, New London boasts an active arts community and plenty of quirky restaurants, cozy coffeehouses and eclectic shops. Grab a seat and discuss ideas over a cup of coffee at Muddy Waters, a lobster roll at Captain Scott’s or a Namaste smoothie at Right Path Organic Cafe.

Library services

Located at the center of the campus, the Charles E. Shain Library offers a collection of more than 500,000 books and periodicals, along with an extensive collection of electronic resources. Other library features include: ten reservable collaboration rooms, two reading rooms on the second and third floors, which each hold 32 individual study spaces.

ICT services

The IT Service Desk provides support for technology issues to students, faculty and staff. The IT Service Desk is usually a good place to start for help with computer problems, network access, or account management issues. We also provide limited services to Alumni, retired staff and Emeriti.

Medical services

Health care can be very expensive in the U.S. However, the College sponsors a comprehensive Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) in which you may enroll. The SHIP incurs a separate expense, in addition to your tuition and other fees. Many international plans do not provide the same level of coverage required by the College.

Campus life

The storied history of the buildings that comprise the Connecticut College campus provide a crash course in the history of the College and its mission of putting the liberal arts into action.

Sports facilities

You will also have access to College academic and athletic facilities: Audit one class per semester, free of charge (CC graduates only), regional discussions and receptions with Connecticut College faculty, as well as other opportunities for continuing education, use of the Athletic Facility and sports equipment, including the pool, rowing tanks, climbing wall, and tennis courts.

Student clubs

Interested in getting involved on campus? We have more than 80 student-led clubs and organizations on campus. You can browse the list below, or see the full directory on ConnQuest, our engagement portal.
