History
Suffolk University grew from humble beginnings in the Roxbury parlor of Gleason L. Archer, a young lawyer who had worked his way through high school and college. A chance meeting brought the young graduate together with a benefactor who loaned him money to pursue the study of law, asking only that Archer pass along the favor.

Library services
The SUMC library exists for three main purposes: to provide adequate resources and support the coursework offered on the SUMC campus; to teach students how to conduct college level research; and to supply students with their textbooks.
ICT services
The Lab facilities are open to Suffolk Students and Employees. You may be required to show your current student picture ID or current class schedule to the attendant when you enter the lab to use the computers.

Sports facilities
The brand-new Michael & Larry Smith Fitness Center opens for business on Tuesday, August 30.
Inside this 5,800-square-foot space, you’ll find state-of-the-art treadmills, circuit training equipment, and elliptical trainers. You can also choose your workout (We’ve got 180+ options!) at the Fitness on Demand kiosk and follow along on our wide-screen TV. The center is stocked with all the yoga mats, kettlebells, medicine balls, and other equipment you’ll need.

Accreditation
The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) assessed the University through the reaccreditation process in 2013. Suffolk University was reaccredited.
