History
The history of the first Polish technical higher education institution began in 1919 when People’s Leading Council founded Higher State School of Mechanical Engineering.
In 1921 in the “Wiadomo´sci Techniczne” newspaper “Appeal to the Authorities to establish Pozna´n University of Technology” appeared. The document included the reasons for creation such type of school.

Student services
At the PUT we have the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) which is a non-profit international student organisation. The main mission is to represent international students, thus provide opportunities for cultural understanding and self-development under the principle of Students Helping Students.The students from ESN will also organise a lot of activities for you during the whole academic year.The Academic Sporting Union /AZS/ with its 30 sports sections is the largest student organization.Our students are successful in basketball, football, cancanoeing, wrestling, snowboarding, volleyball.
Housing services
PUT provides over 2200 places in students’ dormitories, which are situated 2-3 minutes from the University. The rooms are double or triple, with a bathroom and a shared kitchen. Dormirories have access to the Internet, modern student canteen, outdoor basketball court and football pitch, grilling garden.All dormitories are heated and furnished.There is a laundry and some parking place.

Healthcare in Poland is available for students from the EU/EEA countries, provided that they hold valid medical insurance in the national insurance system of their country.
Campus life
Most of the Faculties are situated on Warta Campus.
The Campus is situated in the center of the city – it takes 10 minutes to get to the Old Market from here and 5 minutes to get to the Malta lake – a favorite place of recreation of the city inhabitantsSports facilities
The Academic Sporting Union /AZS/ with its 30 sports sections is the largest student organization. PUT has the outdoor lit sports field – the best in town, new modern Sport Center with bowling, basketball and football hall, fitness halls and a fitness club. Our students are successful in basketball, football, canoeing, wrestling, snowboarding, volleyball.
Student clubs
Over 80 scientific and research groups, let students not only to perform their hobbies, but gives a chance to win Rector’s foundings for students projects, travel and gain experience what makes them desirable candidates for many employers.
PUT has the best Polish student broadcasting station called „RADIO AFERA” and „Spacja TV” –TV channel. The events organized by students include: university students’ festival – Juvenalia, concerts, ROBOTS SUMO competition, Championships of Team Programing, salsa dancing, worldwide tours with the folk dance group called „POLIGRODZIANIE”.
