Master's Programmes

Students in the Five-Year programme build and strengthen their creative, interpretative and analytical skills, through the development of an autonomous and critically self-aware artistic practice.
  • The MFA programme at the Royal Institute of Art focuses on the development of an independent and reflexive artistic work capable of critically engaging in the production of art within an international context. Artists on the programme gain decisiveness in their practice based on the broadest conditions available for experimentation, knowledge production and artistic research.

The Royal Institute of Art fosters an emerging research environment focusing on art, the conditions for art production, and the contemporary challenges for such a practice within and beyond the art world.

The Royal Institute of Art hosts artistic research and development projects. They include artistic development projects, PhD studies, Mejan Residents, and externally funded research projects.
