History
In October, 1872 the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama awarded its first degrees including four bachelor's, two master's and one professional degree in Civil Engineering awarded to W.E. Horne - one of the first engineering degrees to be awarded by a Southern institution.

The Office of Engineering Student Services serves both current and prospective students. Services include:
- Recruitment of undergraduate students through visits to high school college day fairs, junior college transfer fairs, on-campus visitation days and other venues that provide contact with prospective students.
- Administration of College of Engineering and departmental scholarships.
- Academic advising and counseling, assisting entering freshman and transfer students with class scheduling, free tutoring and referrals, and providing information to prospective students and their parents.
- Scheduling of seniors for a final credit check to certify their eligibility to be awarded an engineering degree from Auburn University
ICT services
There are minimum requirements for PCs to be connected to the Engineering network:
- Windows 7 Professional (Home Premium is not permitted)
- The computer system/user must have a valid Auburn domain account
- Sophos Antivirus Software must be installed and updated
- Engineering Network Services will be Administrators for the System (the primary user of the system may also be an Administrator on the System).
Accreditation
ABET accreditation is assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards established by the profession for which it prepares its students. For example, an accredited engineering program must meet the quality standards set by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) within ABET. An accredited computer science program must meet the quality standards set by the computing profession. It is the practice of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering to seek accreditation of its undergraduate programs in computing and engineering.
