History
- 1956: Providence University was founded by the Sisters of Providence, a Catholic religious congregation, with the goal of providing quality education based on Christian values.
- 1981: Providence College received accreditation from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, officially recognizing it as a university.
- Today, Providence University stands as a prominent institution of higher education in Taiwan

International Exchange Office: Providence University places importance on internationalization, and therefore, it typically has an International Exchange Office that assists students in pursuing international opportunities such as study abroad programs and international exchange.
Career
Office of Career Development and Industry Facilitation cooperates with industries and companies, which offers a variety of internship opportunities. Every year, there is a big event of Job Fair on campus, the office invites representatives of enterprises to share job seeking experience and job sessions.

Student services
In general, there are four perspectives for student support:
- International Office: offer administrative assistance and consultancy from application, admission and study at Providence University.
- Overseas Student Advisors: provide academic and life consultancy for each Colleges.
- Office of Student Affairs: offer support from health care, student dormitory, etc.
- Campus Ministry: provide mental and spiritual support.
Housing services
- On-campus dormitory: There are three on-campus dormitories at Providence University. New students can apply for the dormitory in the first year. Accommodation fee for school dormitory is NTD. 10,000~15,500 per semester (around USD. 350~520 per semester) based on room type (3~4 ppl).

- Off-campus housing: Average accommodation prices for student housing nearby Providence University vary between NTD. 3,500~5,000 per month (around USD. 120~170 per month).
Library services
The Luking Library is a prominent feature of the campus, serving as the primary resource center for students and faculty members. It houses an extensive collection of books, research materials, and digital resources to support academic and research needs.
Luking Library was elected as a TOP 10 library in Taiwan, which offers a cozy reading atmosphere and discussion rooms for students.
Medical services
Counseling and Health Center provides students health care, also there is a Mental Health Information for International Students.

Campus life
- Location: Providence University's campus is situated in the Shalu District of Taichung, Taiwan. Taichung is a vibrant city known for its cultural diversity, economic significance, and pleasant climate.
- Green Spaces: Providence University's campus is known for its well-maintained green spaces and gardens. These areas provide a peaceful and aesthetically pleasing environment for students and staff.

- Chapel: Given its Catholic heritage, Providence University often has a chapel or religious space on campus for spiritual and religious activities.
Sports facilities
The university offers sports facilities such as sports fields, gyms, swimming pool and courts for various sports and physical activities. These facilities are open to students for recreational and competitive purposes.

- Providence University's teaching quality is well recognized by Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan.
- Providence University is assigned by the Ministry of Education (Taiwan) to proceed a special project, working with the Ministry of Education and providing the guidance and indication to All Taiwanese Universities and monitor the national foreign-student-caring system at all universities.
- Member of ISEP (International Student Exchange Program), ACUCA, ASEACCU.
- Collaborate with partners in EU and offer Erasmus+ Programs for students.
- College of Computing and Informatics is well recognized by IEET Accreditation.
- 타이중세종학당 at PU is recognized officially by South Korea Government to learn Korean.
