Throughout its history, Pomona College has educated students of exceptional promise. We gather individuals, regardless of financial circumstances, into a small residential community that is strongly rooted in Southern California yet global in its orientation.

History

Pomona College was incorporated on October 14, 1887, by a group of Congregationalists who wanted to recreate “a college of the New England type” on the West Coast. Instruction began the next year in a small, rented house in the city of Pomona.

Warm Community

Great place to be! Welcoming and warming people! Love it here and wouldn't want to be anywhere else!!! But yeah, if you are looking for a place also to learn how to think, I'd definitely recommend this place, as not only are you able to chat with Pomona students, but you also have students from the other 5Cs to chat with.

College is about the journey

I would recommend it to many students, yet it is not for everyone. Some departments are amazing (math, I have heard good stuff about geology) but some are very mid. Yet, they have an amazing campus, many activities and many opportunities when it comes to jobs, internships etc. It is a small college and you never forget that but if you want to be in a small community, in a beautiful location, you are willing to put the work (classes harder than the average university) then Pomona is the place. Also, if you do care about the name and the prestige, Pomona should not be on your top choices

Supportive and passionate professors

Pomona College has been an incredible experience. The student body is amazing diverse, talented, and intellectually stimulating. They constantly challenge and inspire me. The campus itself is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, creating a perfect environment for learning. But what truly sets Pomona apart are the professors. They're supportive and passionate about their subjects, making even the most challenging coursework engaging. I feel incredibly fortunate to be here!

The Dean of Students Office supports and advises you as you pursue your academic and personal life as a Pomona College student. Our deans can listen, advise, counsel, make referrals, and act as liaisons with others at The Claremont Colleges to support your needs.

Library services

The Claremont Colleges Library supports the seven institutions comprising The Claremont Colleges consortium and is organized into five divisions plus the Dean’s office which includes Organizational Planning and Assessment.

Campus life

Ninety-four percent of our students live on campus all four years, and many professors live within five miles of campus. This creates a close-knit community where new collaborations or eye-opening discussions can spring up anywhere – a dorm, club meeting, or at lunch with a professor.

Pomona will be your home for four years – that’s four years of forging connections, making lifelong friends, and learning and discovering new passions.
