History
Srinakharinwirot University was developed from two institutions: The Advanced Teacher Training School, founded in 1949 and the College of Education, founded in 1953. In 1974, it was named Srinakharinwirot University.

Housing services
An important policy of the University is to encourage students to live in the Dormitory at the Ongkharak Campus. The main purposes of this policy are to enhance students’ university experiences through sharing in a close community with their peers and promoting morality, self-discipline and a sense of responsibility toward society.
Library services
Founded in 1954, the Central Library was developed with assistance from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and acquired a status equivalent to a faculty in 1974. In 1989, H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the new library building. The new building was constructed to meet the growing needs of the University and its enrollment.
