History
Zarqa University (ZU) was founded in 1994 in a strategic location to the east of Zarqa City, just six kilometers away, to be the first private university in Zarqa Governorate, with an area that reached three hundred and fifty acres. The University started with six colleges that comprised one hundred and fifty students enrolled in twenty majors.
Education
The University comprises forty four undergraduate majors, and a number of postgraduate programs in English Language and Literature, Accounting, Computer Science, Mathematics, Marketing, Software Engineering, Business Administration, Intellectual Property, Islamic Banking, Administration in Nursing, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Research
The DSR was established in 1995 to encourage research papers by staff members in different specialties. As the university is keen on publishing such works, it issues Zarqa Journal for Research and Studies in Humanities, which is biannual and refereed. It receives papers from inside and outside ZU, to be assessed in according to the scientific methods before publishing them. Until present day, (12) volumes have been issued.

Strong academic foundation with room to grow
My experience at Zarqa University as a Computer Science student gave me a solid technical foundation, especially in programming, problem solving, and core CS concepts. Some instructors are genuinely knowledgeable and supportive if you show initiative. The curriculum covers important fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, databases, and software engineering, which helped me grow technically. However, improvement is needed in practical exposure and industry integration. More real-world projects, stronger partnerships with tech companies, and updated lab resources would make the experience significantly better. Some courses still rely too much on theory without pushing students to build production-level projects. Overall, if you are self-disciplined and willing to learn beyond the classroom, you can get strong value. But you cannot depend only on lectures—you must take responsibility for developing your skills outside university requirements.

My experience was good in this role because I always motivated and wanted to be a translator since I was a child so it’s kind of good

Library services
Zarqa University’s library was established side by side with the inauguration of the university, at the beginning of the academic year 1994-1995, as a response to the objectives of the university represented by supporting scientific research, backing up syllabuses and serving local community.
ICT services
The computer center is considered to be the technological heart of Zarqa University. Founded in 1994 with the university, this center remains active in providing all that’s new in IT and databases through four divisions:

- System development and programing
- Computer maintenance
- Call center
Accreditation
The British Accreditation Commission (ASIC) granted the international accreditation certificate to Zarqa University as a premier university after it fulfilled the requirements for obtaining this accreditation in the main criteria
